PLA Inside Out

Abstract

The Learner at the Centre: Validation of Prior Learning Strengthens Lifelong Learning for All is a significant compilation of 20 essays edited by Ruud Duvekot, Dermot Coughlan and Kirsten Aagaard. It is a part of the “VPL [Validation of Prior Learning] Biennale” series (no. 6), August 2017. The work is published by the European Centre Valuation Prior Learning/VIA University College, and grew out of the 2nd VPLBiennale held in Aarhus, Denmark on 25-27 April 2017. The spirit of this wide-ranging, rich and internationally-based set of essays is well-articulated by the editors in their introduction: “VPL-recognizes and values what people have learned so far in their lives. The VPL-process aims at linking these learning experiences to further development steps for everyone in their given context” (p. 1).
